A trial Parklet has been installed by The Camden Clean Air Initiative on Antrim Road to reduce traffic, encourage active travel, and increase beautiful space in the community.
The Camden Clean Air Initiative has installed a Parklet in Belsize Park with the support of Camden Council. A Parklet is a car parking space that is converted into a community space for something more environment or community-focused. The Camden Clean Air Parklet includes a seating area, bike rack, and planters full of plants to attract pollinators. Situated on Antrim Road in Belsize Park, this trial Parklet will be in place for 12 months and if viewed as a success by the council and community, will contribute to the development of the Camden Parklet Scheme.
The Parklet was designed by Levene Landscapes, a local Landscape Design Studio, who worked on the project for no fee, to create a design that met the Camden Clean Air vision. The parklet was manufactured and installed by DoingRBit, using sustainably sourced materials. The timber was chosen from a few trees and then put through the mill where it is cut to size, planned, and then delivered to the workshop for the manufacturing process. We couldn’t have done it without these companies!
We would like to thank those who played a vital role in funding this amazing project.
Thank you to Lime who sponsored our parklet. They share our vision of creating more sustainable and carbon-free methods of transportation. Getting people out of cars and onto shared modes of transportation, encouraging the change we want to bring to communities. We also want to thank all the individuals that played a vital role in our applications for grants from the Camden Climate Fund, and also Camden Giving. Without their support, our project could not have been possible. Thanks to them all, we are able to spread the importance of active travel and create even more green spaces within communities.
