At London Clean Air, we are committed to driving impactful research that addresses pressing air quality challenges across the city. By collaborating with renowned research universities and local authorities, we aim to produce actionable insights that benefit both the scientific community and the public.
Through these research collaborations, London Clean Air continues to advance its mission of making clean air accessible to everyone in London. We are dedicated to building a healthier, more sustainable city by combining rigorous research with practical community solutions.
01Raising Awareness
Monitoring how increased awareness of pollution at community level impacts behavioural change.
In partnership with University College London (UCL) and supported by the London Boroughs of Camden and Islington, this research investigates whether raising awareness about the harmful effects of air pollution on newborns and young children can influence behavioral change among parents, carers, and nursery workers. The study aims to empower these groups with knowledge to reduce their exposure to harmful pollutants, potentially preventing long-term health issues for vulnerable populations.
Impact:
This research could drive greater community engagement in air quality initiatives and enhance the effectiveness of educational campaigns targeting those most at risk.
02Commercial Cooking
Air quality issues associated with commercial cooking, and their possible solutions.
This project addresses the significant but often overlooked impact of commercial cooking on local air quality. Conducted in collaboration with local restaurants and supported by University College London (UCL), the research examines how awareness of pollution data influences businesses’ willingness to improve ventilation systems and adopt cleaner cooking practices. With commercial cooking now a leading source of PM2.5 emissions in London, tackling this issue is essential for both worker safety and broader air quality improvement.
Impact:
By providing participating venues with critical insights and resources, this research aims to improve indoor air quality, enhance worker health, and contribute valuable data to inform policies on sustainable cooking practices.

Universities we have worked with
We want to act as a voice for London. To do this, we ensure we are listening to anyone working, living, or studying in Camden, to hear their thoughts, concerns, requests, and barriers to change. We use this information to guide our projects.
Have Your Say Survey
Londoners, we want you to Have Your Say! We have created a survey in order to gain an understanding of the Camden community’s views on air pollution, the environment. sustainability, solutions, and necessary action. This should take around 10 minutes to complete and results will shared with all relevant stakeholders including the council.
In October 2020 we joined forces with the on-street charging operator Ubitricity and London’s leading private-hire rental fleet Otto Car to create a new EV Charger Requested Tool
This report sets out the results of a community survey that Camden Clean Air created in order to gain a better understanding of how to enable the shift away from privately owned ca
